Univ. Prof. Dr. Heinz Burgmann Head of Internal Medicine I

The well-being and satisfaction of the patients entrusted to us, research and teaching are the primary goal of all activities at the Department of Medicine I.
The Clinical Departments of Infections and Tropical Medicine, Oncology, Haematology and Haemostaseology, as well as Palliative Medicine and the Intensive Care Units, Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) and three day clinics organized within the Department of Internal Medicine I see themselves as academic institutions with the aim of pursuing and further developing optimal strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with relevant diseases. At the same time, as an organizational unit, we pursue research into the causes, foundations and mechanisms of the disease entities located in the department.
