Mission Statement

The Division of Hematology and Hemostaseology at the MedUni Vienna at Vienna General Hospital is among the leading European centers in the area of hematology and hemostaseology.

Our main goal is to provide our patients with the best possible care in line with the latest medical standards. Through our intensive research activities, we offer access to the most modern, pioneering diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including as part of international scientific study programs. We are a university training center that is respected beyond the borders of Austria. Our department is certified according to the ISO 9001:2015 standard. This enables us to offer our patients the highest standards in diagnostics and therapies.

We work closely with numerous departments at our hospital and thus offer our patients optimally networked, interdisciplinary care. Vienna General Hospital is equipped with the latest medical technology. We also cooperate at the highest level with numerous international medical and scientific institutions.

Our focus is on acute and chronic leukemia, lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome, multiple myeloma, aplastic anemia, chronic myeloproliferative diseases, PNH, mastocytosis, amyloidosis, blood clotting disorders (e.g. hemophilia or thrombocytopenia), venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism as well as antithrombotic therapies.

The Division of Haematology and Haemostaseology is also part of the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) of MedUni Vienna and Vienna General Hospital and is involved in numerous clinical programs and research collaborations, including the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Haematology and Oncology (Head: Prof. Dr. Peter Valent).
